Formerly the Newcastle United Editor of the Chronicle, he covered the machinations of Mike Ashley’s Newcastle for 14 years before breaking stories on the Saudi takeover, which took place in October 2021. A former North East sports journalist of the year, he has also been highly commended at the Sports Journalism Awards on several occasions. He wrote a book ‘Inside the Rafalution’ about Rafa Benitez’s managerial methods.
