    Latest politics news as Sunak accused of ‘secrecy’ over Rwanda payments in grilling by MPs

    Rishi Sunak has faced a grilling by MPs at the Liaison Committee today, being asked questions on a range of issues from the Israel-Hamas conflict to HS2.

    Elsewhere, Schools in England have been told there is “no general duty” to allow children to change their gender identity in the Government’s transgender guidance.

    The Department for Education (DfE) has published its long-awaited draft guidance for schools and colleges on pupils who question their gender.

    Meanwhile, Housing Secretary Michael Gove took aim at councils for “dragging their feet” over processing housing applications during a speech announcing the Government’s new planning policy framework.

    Mr Gove is due to announce a series of measures to boost planning performance across the system.
